Deacon:  The Rev. Deacon Sally Maurer

Rev'd Deacon Sally B. Maurer joined the staff of St. John's on June 3rd, 2012. A native of Pilesgrove, Ms Maurer is a Nurse Practitioner and makes house calls to area residents through her position with Visiting Physician Associates of South Jersey. She is also an appointed member of the Salem County Commission on Women. A graduate of Woodstown High School, Ms Maurer has degrees from Salem and Gloucester County Colleges, University of Maryland and Delaware and her MS from Rutgers University. She has served as an organist/ choir director for 40+ years, most recently at Church of the Good Shepherd Pitman. Deacon Sally was ordained to the Vocational Deaconate on May 5th, 2012 at Trinity Cathedral in Trenton. She and her husband, Oscar, reside on the family farm in Pilesgrove. Between them they have 6 grown children and 13 grandchildren.

Mr. William Clisham, Jr.Bill Clisham is a native of Baltimore, Maryland.  He earned his degrees, Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Church Music, from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey.  He studied organ with Eugene Roan.  He studied conducting with George Lynn and Joseph Flummerfelt.  Bill has been a professional church musician—either part-time or full-time (he also taught High School Vocal Music & Theory for 15 years)—since 1965, having served Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, and Episcopal congregations.  Bill has been Minister of Music at St. John’s, Salem since 2008.  Bills’ interests outside of music, liturgy, and theology include vegetable gardening, cooking, wine, and baseball.  Bill’s wife, Mary Anne—also a native of Baltimore—is a computer programmer/systems analyst, whose avocation is music.  She is a singer, expert handbell player, and page turner “par excellence.”  She is also an intense soccer fan!  Their fraternal twin sons, Glen & Matthew, are now grown adults living in North Jersey and the Florida Keys, respectively.
